So, I really need to work on this blog updating thing... Anyway, there has been so much going on that I definitely don't lack for material. So, here's a few thoughts to hopefully get me on the posting track.
I was at work the other day hearing about Sonia Sotomayor being nominated to the Supreme Court. The name seemed vaguely familiar, in a she must have done something at some point that reached my radar.
Then, my co-worker asked, "Isn't she the one that saved baseball?"
Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!
Now, while Major League Baseball was trying to work out their labor issues, I was trying to adapt to playing ball without a tee. I don't have a lot of natural athletic prowess, so this task took many hours in the backyard to get to the point where I didn't embarrass myself. I definitely did not have time to follow any pro league drama.
Anyway, the point is I didn't really know a whole lot about what was happening as it was happening. Here is a much more detailed article from the New York Times looking back at Judge Sotomayor's role in the baseball strike.
I'd like to note that even the ones she ruled against said that her decision helped give the parties a chance to reach an agreement. I respect that kind of 'get both parties to calm down enough to start actually working out their differences' type of approach in a judge.
Also, she acted quickly, which let me, a young girl trying to adapt to coach pitch, and Sonia Sotomayor, a federal court judge, get get back to things that really matter, like cheering on the New York Yankees.
hehe yay new update. i had no idea about the baseball strike. can i just say that i love the idea of your blog using discussion of sport to discuss other issues. its kind of fly. :0)
