So after being out of academia for 10 months (wow, that's nearly a year!) I have decided to officially enter the blogging world.
As my 'about me' section says, I majored in American Studies. I love the subject. My studies focused on race and ethnicity in literature and film. I miss the discussions I used to have and the wealth of materials I studied, but do not miss writing lengthy academic papers or the drama of grades.
I am also a huge sports fan. I played college basketball and love watching high school and college football. I was also the sports editor for my college newspaper. So expect sports commentary on here, especially in the midst of March Madness. Arizona has captured my heart even as they wreck my brackets.
Sports was one of the first places in my life where I started noticing things like race play out, yet I haven't found too many blogs that cover the intersections of sport and race, which is another reason why I'm here. If you know of any, I'd love to hear about them.
Anyway, this is probably plenty to get started with. And the second half of Ball State v Tennessee is starting. Pat Summitt is one of my heroes!
